This is an injection-plastic figure kit. In September 2013, Studio GHIBLI’s director Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement from movie directing. Reports began circulating shortly thereafter that he was working on a manga about the Sengoku time period (1467-1603) for a modeling magazine. Modelkasten began work on a kit of Hiruko Hachirouta, the hero of the manga, called “Teppo Samurai,” at that time. Unfortunately, when the first test-shot of the figure was ready, Miyazaki-san explained that his manga had been indefinitely postponed. In spite of this, Modelkasten has been given permission to sell this figure.
