This is an injection-plastic figure kit. From the manufacturer:In her youth, Medusa was not the terrible monster the world remembers her as. She was born a beautiful sea maiden in the marine deity family of Phorcus and Ceto. She was the youngest of three sisters and their only mortan daughter. She was a priestess of Athena and devoted her life to that cause, part of which was she was to live a life of celibacy. Poseidon was fascinated by Medusa’s beauty, and from that moment on, the tragedy began.Blinded by his passion for Medusa, Poseidon set out to show everyone the power of his love for her. She married him and Athena, unable to punish Poseidon, punished her instead. Athena directed all her anger at the poor girl by turning her beautiful hair into snakes, her skin into scales and gave her a horrible “gift” which turned any living being that met her gaze into stone. Suffering from her new appearance and new “gift,” Medusa now moved away to hide on a distant lost island. There she lived for many years and tried not to harm anyone. After many years, she turned into a character worthy of her outer appearance, and she began to wander the earth. Athena carried a grudge and did not calm down, and waited for the right moment to strike back.Perseus, son of Zeus and Danae, said he would bring back the head of Medusa. Athena and Hermes aided Perseus by giving him a mirror-polished shield so that Perseus would not look directly at Medusa, and other magical items such as winged sandals, a sickle, a magic bag and an invisible hat. Athena directed the hand of Perseuns, and aided him to cut off the head of the sleeping Medusa. After this, Perseus returned him triumphantly, but this is another story.
